The Project:
The hiring of a private train dining car for an executive transfer between two cities sounds simple enough. What if the last passenger train to roll through these parts was in the late 60’s? The Press Launch for the new LR3 was set to have the participants test drive the new vehicles throughout a number of different terrains for the afternoon and then board a luxury train about 2 miles from the middle of nowhere for their return to Montreal.
The Solution:
Working with VIA, Quebec Gatineau rail lines, CN, CP, three different municipalities and a number of executives in both private industry and public service, JPdL successfully secured the 56KM section of track required for this transfer. The event went seamlessly, aside from the confusion of the old timers in the region who were understandably surprised to see a train chugging through their fields for the first time in 40 years.
The Project:
What do you do when you when you are launching a new winter tire but Mother Nature decided that for the first time, the snow wouldn’t fall? This was the case for one of North America’s leading tire manufacturer’s during the January press launch of its latest winter tire. Months of effort were required for the specially designed thirty-acre test track along with a 6 KM rally course months in the making, but 72 hours prior to the event… not even a dusting of snow. As if that wasn’t enough, it is important to note that the track is located 15KM in the deep woods on a hunting and fishing reserve without any electricity available and the closest body of water over 3 KM away. Conventional solutions just wouldn’t work.
The Solution:
With peak ski season leaving us only very limited equipment availability, JPdL, using its extensive local connections and ingenuity, managed to assemble and dispatch a blizzard-like solution even Mother Nature would be proud of. A small fleet of 40 000-gallon tanker trucks, snow cannons, groomers and a generator that could power a small city were on site making snow within 8 hours of the original S.O.S. 16 inches of fresh power was put down and groomed just in time for the arrival of the participants. No one was the wiser and the event was a success, mentioned in several newspapers and automotive magazines.
